Anybody discover any new bands lately?
For me, in the past few months I've discovered Warp 11, Kirby Krackle and the whole Nerd Core scene (MC Frontalot, Z from Hipster Free Radio, etc.) and the whole sub-genre with chip tunes and the lot.

Well, lemme see... I have lived up to my nickname with some of my recent purchases. I'll bring up stuff both brand new to me, and new material from familiar bands: The BRAND new: Black Death- "Katharsis: kalte Lieder aus der Holle": From what I can tell, so far, it's German Black Metal. Musically, it's pretty good for the genre. What struck me as VERY odd is the vocalist. The lead from Rammstein would make a better Black Metal vocalist than "Para Bellum". He's not crap, but he sounds like me singing Black Metal. God Dethroned- "Under the Sign of the Iron Cross": I guess it's Death Metal-y, and it's all about World War One. So, ees very good, if that's your thing. Hail of Bullets- "On Divine Winds": See above review, but change that to an album about the Pacific Theater of World War Two, and there you go! Jon Mikl Thor- "Rock 'n' Roll Nightmare Soundtrack": Awesome times with 80's Hair Metal, mixed with instrumental work, and dialogue from the movie. Including the ending battle sequence. Tarja Turunen- "What Lies Beneath": If I were to hazard what this album would be considered, maybe somewhat Gothic/Symphonic Metal. Tarja's got a great voice, and while the lyrical stuff is inching closer towards Evanescence-style whinery, she still can sing circles around Amy Lee. (Not that I'd turn either one away for the night... Just saying...) Sabaton- "Coat of Arms": Yes... MORE war-related Metal music. But this is more Power-Speed Metal sounding, and very well done. Accept- "Balls to the Wall": VERY bad-ass for mid-80's Metal. And if you don't love the title track, you sorely press your friendship status with me.

I'm actually not much of a fan of punk in general, I'm more of a progressive rock\metal kind of guy, but I've lately been addicted to 2 horror punk bands.... DieMonsterDie and Crimson Ghosts.

I heard Die Monster Die on Cadaver Lab back in the day. never heard of Crimson Ghosts, though. Do they have any tracks online that I can for free?

Boy, I must be behind in my listening to music, I never heard of any of these bands!! That's one of the things I love most about the Internet: stuff we would never have heard about 20 years ago are a search, or a web forum, away from being discovered.
